Marshall Schoenrock

August 31, 1922 — May 17, 2009

Marshall Warren Schoenrock, 86 of Port Orchard, died at the Washington State Veterans Home in Retsil, WA on May 17, 2009.  he was born August 31, 1922 in Waseca, MN to Edward & Agnes Schoenrock.  He graduated from Waseca HS in 1940.  He married Mary Jean Hill in Waseca on September 22, 1945.  She preceded him in death in 2008. Marshall retired from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton as a Machinist.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 during WWII  in Paris, France and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944.  He was awarded 2 Bronze Service Stars & Combat Infantry Badge.  He was also the owner & manager of the Hilltop Grocery Store in Port Orchard.  He was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, VFW & Eagles in Port Orchard. Surviving are sons Bruce (Debbie) Schoenrock of Oregon City, OR , Kent (Kathleen) Schoenrock of Woodinville, WA, and Todd (Tammy) Schoenrock of  Port Smith, NH; daughter Mary Jo Rethke of Silverdale; sister Donna Johnson of MN;  8 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren; & extended family Jasper & John Hill, Dean Hamoned, Jim & Jon Schoenrock & Janet Philips. Celebration of life service at 1:30pm on May 28, 2009 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.  Burial at Sunset Lane Memorial Park on May 29, 2009 at 11:00am.
