Marshall Vorhies

Marshall L. Vorhies, 49 of Tahuya, Washington died in Belfair on April 1, 2009.  He was born Augut 15, 1959 in El Dorado, Kansas to Burlin & Illah Belle (Wheat) Vorhies.  He graduated  from Cedar Falls High School in Iowa in 1979 and married Eulalia Garzia on July 3, 1981 in Yuma, Arizona. Marshall served in the U.S. Navy from 1979 to 1997 as a Petty Officer 1st Class, receiving the Southwest Asia Service medal for service in Kuwait.  He retired in 1997 and worked as a handyman for the past 5 years.  He enjoyed fishing and playing with his grandkids.  He was the leader of the Sound & Visual services at Christian Worship Center in Seabeck. Surviving are wife Lil of the family home; parents Burlin & Illah Belle Vorhies of Kansas; sons Laurel "Jack" Vorhies of Tuhuya and Joshua (Tandy) Vorhies of Port Orchard; daughter Rebecca Swift (Chad Jenkins) of Bremerton; brother Richard Vorhies of Kansas; sisters Laurie Deckette & Marjorie Melton, both of Kansas and Alice Linson of Wyoming; grandchildren Eziekel Armendariz, Kallista Vorhies, Elijah & Emerica Swift. Memorial Service at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8th at Christian Worship Center in Seabeck.
