Martin Bowes

Martin Eugene Bowes was born September 26, 1945 in  Lead Mine, Missouri.   "Marty" died peacefully December 7, 2008, after fighting a courageous battle against the ravages of Diabetes. He was surrounded by his loved ones who were able to say their goodbyes.  Marty is survived by his wife and best friend Kathleen Dolan-Bowes, daughters Sarah Horton (Alan) Portland, Amanda Seattle, Morgana Portland, Amy Beth Krug Norem (Jason) Gig Harbor,  Aileen Willmoth (Jesse) TN, sons Keith Krug (Dawn), George Krug, Michael Krug all of Port Orchard, eleven grandchildren & one great-grandson, his mother Myrtle and brother Mark of Port Angeles.  Marty was born in Lead Mine MO and raised in Port Angeles.  Marty worked at the local saw mill summers while attending Western Washington University where he graduated in 1968 with a BA in Teaching.  He had a 33 year distinguished career as a Social Worker for the DSHS he retired in 2001 from the Bremerton office.  Marty loved to read and spend time with his family and play the occasional poker game.  He was a great guy and he will be missed by all of us. Marty was preceded in death by his father George and first wife Diane. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations are made in Marty’s name to a local food bank.  Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be held at Noon on January 14, 2009 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Mitchell Rd. in Port Orchard, followed by a gathering in the church reception room.
