Mary Louise Grevstad

Mary Louise Grevstad passed away on March 3, 2016 in Gig Harbor, Washington. She was 95 years old.

Mary was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 75 years John Anton Grevstad, parents Louis and Antonia Reeland, brother William A. Reeland, daughter-in-law Judy Grevstad and granddaughter Julie Grevstad.

Mary is survived by her sons Larry Lewis Grevstad (Lorrie) of Gig Harbor, WA, William John Grevstad of Ketchikan, AK and Christian Anton Grevstad (Terry Draheim) of Seattle, WA. Mary was the loving grandmother to Jenny Dooley (Eric), John S. Grevstad (Elahe Mostaghel), Karen Kaeo (Shane), Tiffany Stetson and Lindsay Thompson (Stephen), great-grandchildren Emily Fahey (Kyle), Natalie Downs (Nathan), Nicole Dooley, Rachel Dooley, Ian Dooley, Avery Grevstad (Christian), Samuel Kaeo, Ashleigh Barker, Stetson Thompson, Julia Rose Grevstad and one great-great grandson, Levi Downs. Other family members include: TJ Barker and the Anderson Family: Scot and Lorri, Jeff, Megan and Colby, Joel and Tes.

Mary was born on June 9, 1920 in Seattle, WA. The daughter of Norwegian immigrants, the family re-located to Olalla, WA in 1926. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1937 where she was known by the nickname, “Songbird” and regularly opened and closed assemblies with a song. She completed her studies at Seattle Business College and worked for more than a decade in the medical field. Mary was a long-time resident of Olalla, Port Orchard and Gig Harbor, WA. She was a member of Beta-Sigma-Phi sorority, the Order of the Eastern Star and Peninsula Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held at Peninsula Lutheran Church 6509 38th Ave NW Gig Harbor WA 98335 on Friday, March 18 at 2pm.
