Mary Hart

Mary Kathleen Hart, Age: 82, of Port Orchard, Washington, died of natural causes on December 6, 2001 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.''Kathleen'' was born on March 21, 1919 in Wheeling, West Virginia to William and Adelia(Craig) Burkle. She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Massachusetts.In 1943 Kathleen married Ira Winfield Hart in North Carolina. He preceded her in death in August of 1995.Kathleen joined the Army of the United States in July 1944, and served proudly in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp. She was a First Lieutenant. She received the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in England and France; three Bronze Stars for her service in Rhineland and the battles of Ardennes and Central Europe. She was honorably discharged in September of 1945.Kathleen enjoyed dancing and walking her dog. She was a member of the Catholic faith.Kathleen is survived by a son, Jerry Hart, of Orlando, Florida; a daughter, Rosemary Hart of Portland, Oregon; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Kitsap Unit, Post Office Box 2382, Bremerton, Washington, 98310.A service in her memory will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2001 at 11:30 A.M., at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.All arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.
