Longtime Port Orchard resident Mary F. Jones passed away October 8, 2002 at her Beauty Lake home. Mary was born December 19, 1915 to F.J. (Paddy) and M.J. (Minn) Harraher in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The family moved to the United States settling in Seattle. They moved to Port Orchard where Mary graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1934. During secretarial work for Joseph Haas she met her life mate R.S. (Bob) Jones. They were married March 9th, 1940 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bremerton. She is survived by Bob of the Beauty Lake home. Mary and Bob had 2 children, Robert S. Jr. and Mary Francis who survive her. She is also survived by her sister Nora Henry and her family of Everett. Her daughter-in-law Lynne Jones of Ephrata and grandchild Kira Michelle Jones of Seattle also survive her. Mary and Bob have been very active lifelong members of the Episcopal Church both locally and diocesan wide. They were awarded the Bishop's Cross in 1981. Most recently they have worshipped at St. Bede's in Port Orchard. Mary had many talents and interests which she was happy to share with others. She was an excellent secretary, seamstress and quilter. She was a member of Home Makers 50+ years , Faith Homes, Meals on Wheels, Boy and Girl Scouts, Charter member of Port Orchard Eagles Auxiliary, Lutheran Social Services, RSVP and was a 4H Judge. Mary, a lady who asked no quarter and gave no quarter lived her life as she felt the Lord leading her to. The family greatly appreciates the wonderful help of Teri Etter - Erho and the other fine folk of Home Health and the Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
