Mary Martineau

March 17, 1942 — August 5, 2008

Mary Martineau, age 90, died September 1, 1999 in Port Orchard, WA.  She was born July 12, 1909 to Joseph and Leopoldina Blazick in Taylor, WA.  Mary came to Port Orchard as a teenager with her family, including two brothers and a sister.  She graduated from Union High School in Port Orchard, WA.  She later worked for the owner of 'Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe' in Seattle, WA. whom she fondly called 'Daddy Stanley.'  In 1934 she met and married Simmie Sanford and they had one daughter.  After Simmie's death, she moved to Retsil, WA. and worked at the Washington Veterans Home as a waitress in the dining hall.  She married Joe Martineau in 1949 and they had one son.  They were married for 45 years until his death in 1994 at the Port Orchard Care Center where she also resided until her death.  Mary was a homemaker, and a member of the V.F.W. Auxillary.  She is survived by her son Bill Martineau of Tampa, Florida, daughter Verna McLean of Port Orchard, WA., sister Sophy Erdman of Kodiak, AK., grandchildren, Cherie McLean, Kevin McLean, Gregg McLean, and Glory Blacknall all of Port Orchard, WA., 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at the Rill Chapel, Pendleton Gilchrist Funeral Home in Port Orchard, September 7, 1999 at 11:00 a.m.
