Mary Avitia Rust, daughter, sister of five, mother of four, wife of well, many, was born in Mountain View, California on February 26, 1936 to Frank and Pauline Avitia. She was the only girl in the lot of six; her brothers were Jimmy, Reynold (“Buddy”), Tommy, Frank and David.
While married to Darrell Maskal Sr. of Visalia, CA, she had three children, Darrell Jr, Kenn and Karen.
Later, while married to Alan Cooper of Bremerton, Washington she had son Mike.
She later married Ron Rust of Bremerton (Saint Ron), who brought his kids, Dwayne, Roni and David to the family. Ron has since passed away but is fondly remembered. She and Ron loved to socialize and migrate south to a warmer climate in the winter.
One of her early occupations was working selling shoes for “Nordstrom and Best” at their first location. Later, she was most often employed as a bartender around Bremerton, early on at the Piedlewieser and then Rolling Hills Country Club and the Quarter Deck.
She liked the Seahawks and loved the color red. Her life on earth ended and she passed on to that higher realm on February 8, 2018.
She is survived by her brother David, Children Mike, Karen and Kenn and Step-Children Dwayne, Roni and David as well as a whole slew of Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Rest in Peace
