Mary Jane Schley of Port Orchard WA passed away peacefully at Kitsap County Hospice on June 9, 2013, at the age of 90, after a brief illness.
Mary Jane was born in Waukesha WI to Edward and Alma Boehmke, the first of six children. After completing school and while working for Wisconsin Electric Company, she married Gordon W. Schley on May 19, 1945 then in 1951 they had a son, John Gordon Schley. They enjoyed Gordy’s long and successful Navy career together moving many times within the United States and elsewhere as Gordy’s Navy assignments required. She especially loved their time living in London England and enjoyed her collections of English Spode china and Waterford Irish crystal. After Gordy’s last assignment at the US Naval shipyard in Bremerton WA they retired in 1974 to Port Orchard. In retirement she enjoyed entertaining, traveling, playing bridge, family and friends.
Services will be held at Rill Chapel & Life Tribute Center at 1151 Mitchell Road, Port Orchard, WA on Friday, June 14th, 2013 at 10:00 AM, with interment later at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Alma Boehmke, son John Gordon Schley, sisters Ruth Alamshah and Georgiann Dahms and brother in law John Kawatski. She will be missed by her husband Captain Gordon W. Schley USN, Retired, sister Francis Kawatski of Waukesha WI, brothers Edward (Kathy) Boehmke of Waukesha WI and Daniel (Cheryl) Boehmke of Wisconsin Dells WI and brother in law Robert Dahms of Milwaukee WI. And many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. With special friends George and Kathy Yount Jr and Don and Karen Rude and their families.
