Mary Shinaberger passed away peacefully surrounded by family August 28, 2016.
Mary (Helvig) Shinaberger is survived by her loving husband Raymond, son Bobby, daughter Lisa, cherished grandson Chantz, sisters, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Mary lived a life full of love, imbued with the values of St. Francis of Assisi. The profound prayer of St. Francis mirrored her daily actions.
Lord, make me an instrument of peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled
As to console;
To be understood,
As to understand;
For it is in giving that we
Receive, it is in pardoning that
We are pardoned.
And it is in Dying that we are
Born to Eternal life.
Mary sowed love in her every step, forgave often, maintained steadfast faith, and served as a beacon of hope and light. Mary radiated and spread joy at all stages on her earthly pilgrimage to eternal life. We entrust her to the abundant mercy of God and celebrate her new life in Christ.
Mary's devotion to St. Francis was exemplified with her bountiful flower gardens, abundant vegetable gardens, attentiveness to the wildlife prolific on her Port Orchard acreage, and the Boulder Creek area where the fingerprints of God are seen in the magnificent beauty of creation.
All are warmly welcomed to the viewing at 1PM on Friday, September 2, 2016 in the Chapel at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church located at 1150 Mitchell Ave, Port Orchard, WA. The funeral Mass will follow at 2PM in the Chapel.
Your prayers for Mary and her family are kindly requested. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church or the South Kitsap Helpline.
