Mary Helen White died on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at St. Anthony Hospital in Washington state. She was visited and comforted by beloved family and friends in the days before her passing.
Mary was born into a family of ten children as Mary Helen Haselman on September 18, 1939 in St. Paul, MN. She graduated high school from St. Agnes Catholic School.
In 1957 Mary relocated to Washington state where she worked and raised her children. In 1992 she bought a home in Goldendale WA where she lived on sixty acres of land in a log cabin. She painted, built bird houses, embroidered, and engaged in other creative endeavors. She had a strong relationship with God and a deep appreciation for nature. Each spring she invited people from all over to enjoy the presence of the purple camas flowers which bloom on her property at that time each year.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Margaret Nelson of Bayview, Idaho and Katherine Esperson of Naperville, Illinois, her son Matthew Hargis, daughter, Margaret Tomkiewicz, son-in-law, Dan Tomkiewicz II and grandchildren, Tiffany Krstich, Daniel Tomkiewicz III of Port Orchard, Washington. She is also survived by granddaughters Samantha Tomkiewicz of Seattle and Crystal Hargis of Minneapolis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
A memorial is set for May 2017 at Mary's camas field in Goldendale, Washington.
