Matthew "Matt" D. Saunders, 23, of Belfair was a victim of homicide January 29 in his home. He was born September 9, 1981, in Portland to his mother, Ann Saunders-Hughes. Mr. Saunders graduated in 2000 from Olympic High School and earned an associate in arts degree in 2002 from Olympic College. He then worked two years as a painter's apprentice at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He enjoyed camping, hiking, cars and trucks and his cat, Oscar, and dog, Ginger. Also killed January 29 inside their home was Saunder's fiancee, 22-year-old Angela C. Offen. Saunders is survived by his mother; brother, Christopher Saunders of Dallas; sisters, Kelly M. Tilton of Tacoma and Kim Jones of Woodland, Washington; nieces Morgan Tolbert and Rachel Tilton, and nephew, Benjamin Tilton. A memorial service for Saunders and Offen will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center.
