Matthew Nicholas Thompson

Matthew “Matty” Thompson passed away in Poulsbo, Washington on Tuesday, July 6th, 2021. He was 32 years old.

Matthew grew up in Washington State, spending most of the last few years in Port Angeles, Washington. Matty was an accomplished musician, singer and songwriter. He was a member of multiple bands over the past few years, including the Cabby Hats, the Muu Muus, SST and ALP. He also hosted open microphone events at various Port Angeles bars. Matt worked primarily as a cook and sous chef at several of Port Angeles’ finer restaurants.

Matthew is survived by his father, Mike, his mother, Patricia, his “step-monster,” Paula, brothers Eric (Becky) Michaelson, Marc (Maya Kuhns) Thompson, Dustin (Amye) Thompson, Zachary Thompson; sisters April Michaelson and Shelby (Carrie) Buren; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, July 17th at the Rill Chapel – Port Orchard, Washington. There will be a memorial with reception following, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are welcomed. Online memorial and guestbook at www.rill.com .

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Matty’s name, to the Kitsap Rescue Mission , the Coffee Oasis , Trillium Treatment Center or the addiction treatment center of your choice.
