Merton "Red" Liston passed away peacefully Monday July 22nd 2002 at his home in Gig Harbor, Washington with family at his side. He was born December 29, 1927 in Alliance, Nebraska to Merton E. Liston Sr. and Emma E. (Carroll) Liston. Red is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce (Slanger), two sons Joseph M. Liston (Beth) of Mt. Vernon, Washington, John P. Liston of Anacortes, Washington, two loving daughters Christine M. Curow (Cal) of Lacey, Washington, Nancy L. Howard (Fred B.) of Gig Harbor, Washington. He is also survived by Grandchildren: Joseph D. Elliott (Charlotte Heller), Zachary L., Benjamin C. and Megan R. Liston, Dean E. Curow (Ashley Berger), Shawna K. Curow (Christopher Ray), Kristy K. Liston; three step grandsons: Fred H., Larry and Christopher Howard. Great-grandchildren are Tiara and Tyler. Red was preceded in death by two infant sons, Michael David (1949)and Timothy George (1957) Liston and an infant granddaughter Sarah Curow (1974).Red retired from Texico Refinery in Anacortes in 1990 after 42 years service.
