Michael J. Fields, 45 of Port Orchard, died at his parents home in Bremerton on December 27, 1999. He was born November 3, 1954 in Bremerton, Washington to Delmar & Mary (Mason) Fields. Michael graduated from West Bremerton High in 1973 and from the Apprentice Program in 1979 as an Inside Machinist at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.Mr. Fields worked as a supervisor in the machine shop at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and completed 25 years of federal service attaining the position of Progressman Supervisor. He was an avid car enthusiast involved in building, finding and restoring classic and custom cars. He practiced the 'art of the deal: while participating in swap meets - Mike also appreciated a 'good find'. He enjoyed camping, cooking, fishing and golf and was a member of the Long Lake Lawn Mower Racing Association, Port Orchard Eagles, and Federal Managers Association.Surviving are sons Aaron Michael Fields and Kelly James Fields, both of Yuma Arizona; parents Del & Mary Fields of Bremerton; sisters Alberta 'Laurie' Fields-Witcher of Seattle and Diane Burlingame of Bremerton; brother Bruce R. Fields of Bremerton; nieces Christine & Erica Witcher of Seattle and Sarah & Jayme Burlingame of Bremerton; and special friend K-Lynn Fournier of Port Orchard.A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 30, 1999 at First Covenant Church, 12th and Veneta in Bremerton. Interment will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard.
