Michael Oakley

February 23, 1958 — March 9, 2012

Michael George Oakley, 54, died March 9, 2012.  He was born February 23, 1958 in Chateau, MT to George &  Sharlene “Toppy” Oakley.  Bainbridge HS class of 1976, then attended WWU.  He married Karla Eddy May 20, 1996. The Oakley family established Dockside Sales & Service in the early 1980’s.  Mike’s knowledge and love for anything mechanical made him a valuable asset to the boating community.  He later opened Oakley’s Marine Service. Mike’s favorite verses from Jimmy Buffett’s song:  “Pirate looks at Forty”;  “Mother, mother ocean, I have heard your call, wanted to sail upon your waters since I was 3 feet tall. You’ve seen it all, you’ve seen it all”;  “Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred years too late.  The Cannons don’t thunder, there’s nothing to plunder.  I’m an over-forty victim of fate…arriving too late…arriving too late”.  Michael, it’s time to finish rowing your boat ashore…We hope to see your smiling eyes on the other side of the Bay! Surviving are wife Karla; children Christopher, Emily & Erik Oakley;  Mike was a 2nd father to Shane, Dustin & Ryan Eddy;  brother Stephen Oakley; sisters Sharla (Hassan) Musabih  & Marcy (Devin) Trueman.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at Long Lake Community Center, 5100 Long Lake Road SE in Port Orchard.  Please stop by and share your good memories.
