Michael Andrew O'Malley, 60, of Port Orchard, WA, died July 3, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, WA.Michael was born February 27, 1942, in Ballard, WA, to Eugene H. and Lila (Knight) O'Malley. He graduated from high school at Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, WA, in 1966.Michael married Lana M. (White) O'Malley on December 11, 1961, in Las Vegas, NV.Michael served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1982 achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was awarded 5 Good Conduct awards and the Navy Achievement Medal.After retiring from the Navy, Michael became a police officer for the city of Port Orchard for 19 years retiring in 2002.He enjoyed motorcycle riding, model trains, and model ship building.Michael is survived by his wife Lana M. O'Malley, of Port Orchard, WA; daughters Dawn M. Cortes, of Topsham, ME, and Tara A. Carley, of Port Orchard, WA; and 4 grandchildren.A ceremony honoring Michael's life will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2002, 3:00PM, at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. An Honor Guard will be represented by the United States Navy, Port Orchard Police, Washington State Patrol, and the Kitsap County Sheriffs Office.
