Michael Poole

Michael John Poole, 58, died at his home in Silverdale, Washington on August 25, 2000 of Mesothelioma, a cancer related to asbestos exposure. He was born on June 23, 1942 in Bremerton, Washington to James Clyde & Mable Mae (Blakley) Poole. Michael graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1963 aboard the USS Turner Joy and USS St. Paul. He received a medical discharge in 1963. Michael married Barbara (White) Minnerly on October 29, 1983 in Port Orchard, Washington.Mr. Poole retired as a result of his illness, in March 1999 after 31 years in construction. As an avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. For many years he was a motocross enthusiast and a former member of the Bremerton Sidehack Club. He was an active member of the Bremerton Boating Club since 1987 and served as its Commodore from 1991 through 1993. Mike was also a member of the Bremerton Yacht Club, International Order of Blue Gavel, Disabled Veterans and Carpenters Union. He was a devoted Mariners fan. He is remembered by his family for eternally treasured gifts - his zeal for life, unparalleled sense of humor, and devoted love for his family, and dedication to his friends.Surviving are his wife Barbara; sons John Busey of Seattle, Kelly Busey of Gig Harbor, Michael Dudley of Colorado, and Matthew Dudley serving in Japan with the US air Force; daughter Rebecca Werdall of Belfair, Washington; brothers James Poole of Tracyton, Washington and Joe Poole of Port Orchard; sisters Shirley Leene and Dorothy Crouch, both of Bremerton, Genie Ehlert of Richland, Washington, Mary Sheetz of Redmond, Oregon, and Kathryn Bisbee of Graham, Washington; 6 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.A Graveside service with Military Honors will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2000 at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. A memorial celebration of Mike's life will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2000 at the Bremerton Yacht Club in Bremerton.
