Michael D. Schurman Sr. was born March 25, 1951, in Missoula, Montana to Leslie Milton and Dolores Montana Schurman. He passed from this life on December 21, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Gig Harbor, at the age of 65, and he was surrounded by his family and friends.
Michael was born and raised in Missoula until he was 11. He moved to Pacifica, California, where he met his wife, Bonnie. He lived in several places in the Bay Area before moving to Port Orchard, Washington.
Michael worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard for 25 years. After his retirement from Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard, he spent one year off helping take care of his triplet grandchildren. Michael then was a truck driver for 15 years, driving the west coast from Washington to California often taking one of his grandchildren along for the trip.
Michael loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved traveling and taking long road trips in his motorhome. He also enjoyed working on cars, fishing, and helping family and friends when needed.
Michael is survived by his wife, Bonnie of 47 years; his daughter, Michelle Schurman; his son, Michael Schurman Jr. and his wife, Sarah; his three grandchildren, Austin Schurman, Kenneth Schurman, and Zackery Schurman; and his sister, Doreen Schurman.
The graveside services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Lane Memorial Park located at the Bethel Avenue and Mile Hill Roundabout in Port Orchard, Washington. All are welcome to attend the services.
