Mildred E. Hammer died September 7, 2002 at her home in Port Orchard, Washington. She was 84.She was born May 3, 1918 in Paulina, Oregon to Rudy and Louise (Brosius) Retzloff.Mildred graduated from Bend High School in Bend, Oregon in 1936.She worked as a secretary in law offices in Bend, Oregon as well as Port Orchard, Washington - retiring after 30 years.She enjoyed bowling leagues and secretarial clubs in Bend, Oregon; enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, watching T.V. in her favorite chair; played the organ and sang in the church choir in Bend; Louis L'Amour paperback books. She belonged to the First Methodist Church in Bend, Oregon before moving to Port Orchard, Washington 30 years ago.She is survived by her son Aubrey Hammer (& wife, Veta) of Longbranch, Washington; grandson, Joe Hammer, of Port Orchard, Washington; and two great granddaughters, Savannah and Hayley Hammer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie (in 1969).Graveside services will be held at Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend, Oregon September 17, 2002, Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m.
