Mildred Jackson

March 1, 1916 — November 15, 2006

Mildred "Millie" Lucille (Davis) Jackson, 90, died in Bremerton, Washington on November 15, 2006 where she had resided for 55 years. She was born on March 1, 1916 in Portland, Oregon to Edgar & Laura (Johnson) Stone. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland in 1934. Millie married Joe Davis on November 12, 1938 in Lake Grove, Oregon. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1973. On May 25, 1980, she married Orba Jackson in Bremerton and he also preceded her on July 4, 1981. Millie was employed at the former Bremer's Department Store for 27 years, retiring in 1979 as the store's Credit Manager. Millie was adventurous and loved living her life to the fullest. She particularly enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles, wagon trains, traveling around town on shopping trips and lunch outings with her friend Ethel, card games, "dining out" evenings, weekends at the ocean, and get-aways to Las Vegas, Reno, and Hawaii. In fact, Millie was well known for always being the first to volunteer to participate whenever an adventure was suggested. She loved record keeping; one of the last things Millie would do each day of her life was record on her monthly calendar, the fun she had that day - each and every day. But most of all, Millie loved spending time - doing anything, anywhere, at anytime - with her daughters and their families. Surviving are daughters Joanne (Paul) Zellinsky and Judy (Ron) Corcoran, both of Bremerton; brother Gordon (Phyllis) Stone of Tigard, Oregon; stepson Dean (Brenda) Jackson of Bremerton; grandchildren Sandy (Steve) Johnsen of Tacoma, Kyle (Serena) Mackey of Boise, Idaho, Pam (Frank) Warner of Silverdale, and Paul (PJ) Zellinsky, Jr. of Bremerton; great-grandchildren Stephanie, Luke, and Ben Johnson of Tacoma, Kendall & Teagan Mackey of Boise, Idaho, and Mandy & Jenna Warner of Silverdale; nieces Susan (Jay) Kitchin of Vancouver, Washington and Pam Hendrickson of Maple Valley; and nephew Gary (Donna) Stone of Bellflower, California; Thomas (Roz) Huard of Federal Way, Chris (Judy) Huard of Des Moines, Yolanda Huard of Kent, Therese (Bob) Durham of Kent, Patricia (Carl) LaFontaine of Tacoma. She was preceded in death by stepson Connie Jackson of Olympia, and a niece Penny Bowman of Bremerton, a nephew John Huard of Seattle, and a great-grandson Nicholas Johnsen of Tacoma. Memorial service at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale WA 98383, or Alzheimer's Association, Western Chapter, 12721 30th NE , Seattle WA 98125.
