Millie Rasmussen

Millie Jean Rasmussen of Sequim May 5, 1929 to January 27, 2010 Millie passed away on Wednesday January 27, 2010 of Parkinson’s disease.   She was born on May 5, 1929 to Frances and Victor Pinard of Port Orchard.  Millie Graduated from South Kitsap High school in 1947. Shortly after graduation Millie moved to Hawaii to work in the civil service.  After a few years she moved back to Port Orchard to be close to her family.   Remaining in Port Orchard she had four boys that she raised there.   She was an administrative secretary at Great Northwest Savings and Loan in Bremerton for seven years.  After retirement Millie moved to Port Angeles and later Sequim.  Millie enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, and many other locations throughout the world.  RVing for weekend getaways to the family property at Olympic Canal Tracts on Hood Canal was another favorite pastime.  She enjoyed growing both flowers and vegetables at her home in Port Angeles.   Mainly she loved spending time with her friends and family.  She was an amazing mother and grandmother. Millie was and survived by her brother, Doug Pinard of Bremerton, two sons Dan and wife Janet Peterson of Sequim, Greg and wife Lisa Peterson of Bremerton; seven grandchildren, Nate Peterson, Jason Peterson, and Desiray Sampson of Bremerton, Jean Marohn of Bellingham, Jacob Peterson of Seattle, Jessica Peterson of Hermosa Beach CA, and Gabrielle Peterson of Warrnambool Australia; and three great grandchildren, Nathan& Halee Peterson and Julio Mateo all of Bremerton.  She was also preceded in death by her brother Victor Pinard Jr. and two other sons David and Gordy Peterson. A memorial service will be held on February 27, 2010 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard at noon.
