Minona Emery

Minona F. Emery, 89, of Manchester, WA, died December 10, 2001, of heart failure at her home in Manchester.Minona was born January 17, 1912, to Roy and Elizabeth (Ehlebracht) Fitts on the Waikiki Farm in Spokane, WA. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in Sunnyside, WA, and attended 1 year of business college in New York City.Minona married Edward E. Emery in 1936 in Spokane, WA. Edward preceded her in death in 1998.Minona worked as a homemaker raising 6 children and also spent time as a secretary in the insurance industry.Minona was always involved in her church donating much of her time with the Altar Society, most recently with St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard, WA. She also enjoyed playing bridge.Survivors include her sons, Dr. E. David Emery, of Northfield, MN, Richard Emery, of Priest River, ID, and Gary Emery of Davis, CA; daughters, Cheryl McCulloch, of Manchester, WA, and Mary Emery Robb, of Ann Arbor, MI; brother, Robert Fitts, S.J., of Spokane, WA; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Rush Emery; brothers, Holden, Harvey, and James; and sisters, Alice and Elizabeth.Services will be held in Ephrata, WA, on December 27, 2001 at 11:00 A.M., at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Robert Fitts will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Ephrata Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent dePaul, 1137 Callow N, Bremerton, WA 98312.
