Miriam Callow Fallstrom died at her Port Orchard, Washington family home September 28, 2003. She was 80.She was born December 23, 1922 in Elma, Washington to Arthur and Effie (Rasmussen) Callow.Miriam graduated from Elma High School in Elma, Washington. She graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington in 1944; and, earned a Masters of Social Work degree at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon in 1964.She married Harold E. Fallstrom May 29, 1965 in Parkland, Wasington.Miriam retired as a supervisor after 25 years with the Oregon and Wasington State D.S.H.S. - most recently in the Child Protective Services.She enjoyed quilting (was a member of the local Kitsap Quilting Association); traveling; snow and water skiing until age 66; enjoyed swimming at the South Kitsap High School pool and Lost Lake in Mason County; and travelled to all 50 states and much of Europe.Miriam is survived by her husband, Harold E. Fallstrom, of the Port Orchard Family home; sons - Lou Berry (& wife, Arlene) of Port Orchard, Richard Fallstrom of Belfair, Washington, David Berry (& companion, Dori Shobert) of Port Orchard, Daniel Fallstrom (& wife, Glenda) of Port Orchard, Brian Berry (& wife, Crystal) of Port Orchard; daughter - Elizabeth Knutson (& husband, todd) of Graham, Washington; sister - Francis Fallstrom of Issaquah, Washington; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters - Ruth Keenan and Doris Whittier and by brother - Lewis Callow.A funeral service will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2003.Memorial Donations may be made to:Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center1124 Columbia St. LY-120Seattle, WA 98104or Hospice of Kitsap CountyP.O.
