Mona Payne

Ms. Mona L. Payne passed away on July 29th, 2001, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. She was born July 18, 1920 in Seattle, Washington to Carla and Alfred Pederson.She spent part of her younger years aboard whaling ships. She was an accomplished concert pianist.Ms. Payne graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics.Ms. Payne also was a bartender for many years, and served as president of the Shuffleboard League.She enjoyed fishing, camping and most of all, going to the ocean. Ms. Payne spent many weekends with her daughter out at Captain's Landing in Hansville, Washington.She is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Patterson; her grandchildren, Chuck Bates, Ann Goodrich, Barbara Walker, Michael Payne, Randy Payne;Daughter-In-Law, Joyce Payne; Son-In-Law, Lou Goodrich.Ms. Payne was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Lee Payne Jr..At her request, there will be no services.Donations or memorials can be made to The American Cancer Society, or to the charity of choice in her name.Arrangements are under the direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.
