Muriel Canavan

March 21, 1928 — September 24, 2010

Murial J. Canavan passed away, Sept. 24, 2010 with her children by side in Manchester.   Born in Roslyn, S.D., she spent much of her childhood in Yakima.  Her high school years were spent in Sumner, graduating in 1946.  She moved to Sacramento, CA to marry Samuel Scott who preceded her in death in 1960.  Muriel started as an office assistant and worked her way to Personnel Manager at Weinstocks department store.  She moved to Washington in 1977 to be closer to Debora’s growing family.  Muriel worked at Harrison Hospital as cashier, then Chief Cashier, retiring in 1996.  During this time she met and married Rolland Canavan.  They had 21 years of fun travelling, seeing sights and visiting their children.  Rolland preceded her in death in 2003.  A highlight she and Debora experienced at this time was their cross-country trip.  Muriel was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward and Eugene Wallace.  Surviving her are sisters, Phyllis (Jack) Varney and Leona Demonnin, from Liberty Lake, WA and sisters-in-law, Nancy and Mary Jo Wallace.  Greatly missed by children, Dale(Linda) Scott of Salt Lake City, UT, Debora Reda (David) Hammerstrom of Belfair, WA, Dee (Claire) Scott of Spokane, WA Leslie (Brian) Reidy of Manchester, WA Colleen (Bill) Meachem of Kirkland, WA, Kathy (Arlene) Canavan of Seattle, WA, and Peggy (Jack) Molsness of Port Townsend, WA and grandchildren, Julie, Eric, Corey, Clay, Chelsea, Casey, Colleen, Caren (Dale), Kyle, Collin, Christopher, Elizabeth (Dee), Forrest, Seth, Caleb, Timothy (Debora), Jessie, Timothy, Sarah (Leslie), and Great-grandchildren, Greyson and Spencer (Julie) and Emilyn and Ashton (Kyle).  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County.
