Myra M. Eksten, age 84, died June 12, 1999 in Port Orchard, Washington. She was born November 26, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Eugene and Elizabeth (Whittle) Lee. She attended school in Electra, Texas and was one of a set of twins, that kept everyone guessing who was who. She was baptized at the Baptist Church in Electra,Texas.She moved to Bremerton, Washington in 1942 after marrying Harry Age. She lived in Bremerton during the war and then spent approximately 1 year in Kellogg, Idaho. She moved back to Port Orchard in 1947 where she went to work at Myres restaurant as a waitress and cook until it burned down in 1963. She then worked at Price's Inn for a short while, following this she worked at the Veterans Home in Retsil, Washington as a cook. After Harry's death in 1965, she met Ernst Eksten and they were married in 1967. They both worked at the veterans home in Retsil. She retired in 1972. She was a member of the Bethel Grange, Colby Methodist Church, and was involved with Helpline. She loved to camp at the ocean, dig clams, sew, knit, garden, ride in airplanes, go for drives, eat chinese food, and have big family dinners. She is survived by her son Leon Hart of Grapeview, WA., daughter Nancy Johnston of Brownsville, WA., numerous grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son Larry, husband Harry Age, husband Ernie Eksten, and her twin sister. Memorial services will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA., June 17, 1999 at 1:00 pm. Graveside committal will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery following the service.
