Myrna was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Edgar C. and Evelyn J. Chapman and passed away in Seattle, Washington after a short but aggressive illness. She is survived by her sister Nola K. (Chapman) Marsh who presently resides in Colorado Springs, CO, a cousin Ruby Hanson of Yreka, California, other relatives in Iowa and many friends in all the places she lived.
She attended grade school at Givens Elementary and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1956. Her working years were mostly in Civil Service at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA. Ft. Shafter Army Base, Honolulu, HI and Sand Point Naval Station as Clerk and Computer Machine Operator (before you hold a computer on your lap or in your hand.
Her father raised her to be a sports fan. All of the local college and professional teams were her favorites. The number of jerseys she owned is enormous. She held season tickets to the UW Football and Basketball games, the Mariners Baseball games, and the Seahawks Football games. She had many friends she met through her love of sports. When she became unable to attend these games she always watched them on TV. The last Seahawk game she watched was with her sister in Virginia Mason Hospital. The Seahawks beat the 49ers on Dec. 2, 2018.
As a member of University Presbyterian Church, she helped fold bulletins and other “clerky” things.
Services will be held April 1, at 1pm n Seattle at University Presbyterian Church, and on April 10th In Port Orchard, WA., 2pm at Rill Chapel .
She will be remembered for her open heart, loving spirit, beautiful blue eyes, love of life and love of God that carried through everything she did.
She was loved by many and will be missed by all she touched.
