July 25, 1918 — January 17, 2003

Myrtle "Mert" A. Rawlings, 84, of Bremerton, WA, died January 17, 2003, at her home.Myrtle was born July 25, 1918, in Hattiesburg, MS, to Pink and Carrie (Harris) Buckhaults. She graduated from high school in Scotia, CA. Myrtle worked in the food service industry in California, Oregon, and Washington. She enjoyed crocheting, growing flowers, gardening, traveling, and being around the water. Myrtle was awesome with anything that had to do with food.Survivors include her son Bobbie L. Benson, of Eton, GA; daughters Juanita "Cookie" Barnes, of Tacoma, WA, and Carrie Hull, of Puyallup, WA; brother Buck, of Roseburg, OR; 16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons Leroy Benson and Jake Rawlings.A ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2003, 2:00PM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard with a reception following in the Hospitality Room. Memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital For Children, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd, Portland, OR 97201, or the Alzheimer's Association, 12721 30th Ave NE #101, Seattle, WA 98125.
