Nancy Delores Lyman

Nancy was born in Port Orchard, Washington to Eric and Myrtle Nelson. She grew up in a loving home steeped in Scandinavian tradition in Olalla alongside her siblings, Ron and Sharon. While attending South Kitsap High School she met the love of her life, Jerry Lyman. They married November 7, 1953, and she continued with absolute focus and dedication to rearing her greatest legacy, her family. Nancy directed, mentored, and doted on her three sons, Gary, Dale, and Brian, and their daughter, Joan. Jerry and Nancy referred to their family as “The Lyman 6 Pak”. Her family later grew to “The Lyman 6 Pak+” with 13 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Nancy and Jerry celebrated their 70th anniversary last November with a huge gathering of family.

The love Nancy had for her family was palpable and was felt deeply by those in her life. There was never any doubt how loved you were if you were a member of this family. Her love was big and unconditional in the most special way. Food was one of her love languages. Family and friends gathered in her home, enjoying her delicious meals as they visited, played cards, and enjoyed games. The beloved Tuesday night cards and Wednesday morning breakfasts were special traditions she created. Her calendar was always filled with family events, friend gatherings, and attending grandchildren’s activities. Nancy and Jerry spent sixty years of their lives together at their home on Puget Drive, viewing Puget Sound, Seattle, and mom’s favorite, Mount Rainier.

Nancy loved to spend time at their Mason Lake cabin with family and friends. Many special memories were made there too. They also spent countless vacations in Sunriver, Oregon, traveling to Maui, and cruising with family and friends.

Nancy has been a member of Elim Lutheran Church for over sixty years. She was born and baptized in the Lutheran faith.

Nancy passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side. She will be greatly missed.
