Nancy McCrayMarch 30, 1911 - Sep. 6, 2003Nancy Susanna McCray, 92, of Bremerton died Saturday at her home in the Baypointe Retirement Community near Oyster Bay in Bremerton.She was born in Easton, Washington, to Andrew L. and Lydia C. (Headrick) Lee, one of their 13 children and the last surviving. She attended school in Mount Vernon.She married Marvin McCray on May 6, 1974, in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. He preceded in her in death on May 28, 2000.Mrs. McCray also was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmett Gardner, and her second husband, Victor Kallio.She worked in civil service for 16 years at the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station at Keyport, retiring in 1972. She repaired the firing mechanism on torpedoes.Before her career at Keyport, she had been a cook at Irish's Corner Cafe in Poulsbo. Mrs. McCray enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with her husband, Marvin. Other favorite pastimes were crochet and sharing pies and other dishes she prepared.She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Port Orchard.Survivors include a daughter, Edna Sims and her husband, Ernie, of Port Orchard; three grandchildren, Debra Armentrout and her husband, Neil, of Port Orchard, Carla Loflin of Glenrock, Wyoming, and Richard Sims of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and four great-grandchildren, Breanne and Brad Armentrout and Kristel and Jeff Loflin.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Gardner, in 1939.A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Port Orchard. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton.Arrangements are under the direction of Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap CountyP.O.
