Nancy P. (Pewarchuk) Burns, 77 of Port Orchard, Washington died at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington on January 12, 2007. She was born on September 15, 1929 in Lamont, Alberta, Canada to Andrew & Anne (Kashuba) Pewarchuk. Nancy graduated from high school in Lamont and from Nursing School at Archer Memorial Hospital in Lamont, Alberta, Canada in 1952. She married Richard Glenn Burns on September 29, 1956 in Chipman, Alberta, Canada. Nancy retired after working 19 years as a Registered Nurse at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard. She began her career at Two Hills in Alberta and Vernon in British Columbia. She worked at Woodland Clinic in California before marrying Richard, and then at a hospital in San Diego. She took a break from nursing to raise her two children before returning to work. Nancy painted, recorded an album with her sisters, and played on a curling league. Over time she sang in the choir and gardened. She loved to travel visiting Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, the Caribbean, and cruised on the Delta Queen. She loved the ballet and enjoyed the theatre and live music. She was a member of Eastern Star and belonged to the Adventures of Faith congregation. Nancy was filled with kindness and vitality and will be sorely missed. Surviving are husband Richard; son Christopher (Beth) Burns of Bothell, Washington; daughter Glenda (Stephen) Burns of Federal Way, Washington; brother Fred Pewarchuk and wife Lil of Lamont Alberta along with their sons Fraser and his wife Denise and sons Arlen and Trevor, and son Douglas and his wife Jackie; sister Irene Vause and son Robert (Christina) of Calgary, AB, and Julie Waldron and husband Ron of Edmonton Alberta and their son Wayne, daughter Cheryl Ferguson and husband Dave and their children Kathryn, Pam, and Kim, daughter Candace Waldron, and daughter Nicolette Parritt, and son Shayne and his wife Patti and their children Clay and Rebecca; grandchildren Alexandra, Erika & Robert; great grandchildren Angelica and Aleisha; and aunts Kay Moreau of Seattle, Polly Pewarchuk of Lamont, aunt Sophie & uncle John Krawchuk, and uncle John Stefanyk, all of Edmonton. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, January 26, 2007 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. The Very Reverend Michael Fourik will officiate. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to Northwest Kidney Center, 700 Broadway, Seattle WA 98122 or the charity of choice.
