On May 9, 2023, Nenita Aguilar, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully in her sleep. She was 79.
She’s a wife, a mom, a doting grandmother, a kind aunt and a faithful friend.
Nenita was a modest and soft-spoken woman. She was a bit reserved, a woman of few words, but her
life and the way she lived showed how much love she had for her family and the people that she cared
about. Her family comes first for her even before her own and had given all her heart for them as she
took care of them and their needs. She was like what the writer of the book of Proverbs described:
Proverbs 31:27 “She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness”.
Other than her children, Nenita’s passion was cooking, first for her family, then in serving the community
through their family-owned restaurant, Barrio Piyesta, which was known to the Filipino community in
Bremerton and the surrounding areas. Despite not having a formal education, she and her husband, had
ran and managed the business from 1994 until she retired in 2014 due to health concerns.
She and her husband had valued education, not being able to complete school themselves, by instilling
this value to their children, who all had pursued higher education which was the highlight of her and her
husband’s accomplishments. She did not impose what career she wanted for them but she supported
them to follow their dreams.
Nenita is survived by her husband Rudy, and three living children, Mhel, Ruel and Grace, and 11 beautiful
grandchildren. Her son Fredi had preceded her.
