Orra Ferate

Orra H. Ferate, 83, of Port Orchard died December 12, 1998 in Bremerton.  Born February 13, 1915 in Cleveland, Ohio to Paul and Ida Holtz.  Graduated in 1935 from Western Reserve University in Cleveland.  Attained her Masters Degree from University of Puget Sound in 1970.  Orra married Fred D. Ferate on February 4, 1937 in Ripley, New York.  He preceded her in death in 1986.  She taught school at Olalla Elementary for 22 years retiring in 1977. She was a volunteer for the Literacy Council and RSVP.Survived by sons Fred D. Ferate of Washington D.C, Michael L. Ferate of Bremerton, WA, James S. Ferate of Bremerton, WA, Justin T. Ferate of New York, Vincent M. Ferate of Bremerton, WA; daughters Barbara F. Evans of Port Orchard and Celia M. Ferate of Baltimore, MD; brother Paul K. Holtz of Ohio; 22 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by son John F. Ferate and 2 grandsons, Timothy and Brandon Ferate.  Memorial Service December 17th at 1 PM at Forest Ridge Health & Rehab Center in Bremerton.
