Pamela Townsend

Pamela Lee Townsend, 63, a resident of Gig Harbor died of complications of ALS on July 24, 2012 at Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma. She was born in Madison, WI on February 17, 1949 to Clayton and Leona (Hustad) Peterson. She graduated from Franklin Pierce HS in 1967 and Pacific Lutheran University in 1972 with a BA in English. She married Clark Townsend June 4, 1983 in Renton, WA, he preceded her in death in 2011. She was a manager of Holly Ridge Center, SeaFirst and Heritage Banks for over 20 years. She has worked for years in the financial services industry during which she assisted small and medium sized organizations with business plans in preparation for commercial loans. She has had extensive experience in Human Resource Management. She has worked for WWEE (Washington Women’s Employment and Education). She was a Kitsap Juvenile Court Volunteer and a member of Rotary Club RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards); and was a classroom reading volunteer. She loved traveling, reading and cooking and her much loved gray cat ‘Zamboni’. She is survived by her mother Leona Peterson of Gig Harbor; son Dan Townsend (Jill) of Sedro Wooley; daughter Kirsten Bell (Ron) of Puyallup; sister Barbara Vickers (Jim) of GA and 6 grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at pacific Lutheran University at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to ALS Evergreen Chapter, 19115 68th Ave. S, Ste H-105, Kent, WA 98032.
