Patricia Bassen

December 10, 1931 — March 20, 2008

Patricia M. (Berg) Bassen, age 76, passed away peacefully after a 15-year battle with Parkinson's disease at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center on March 20, 2008. Patti was born on December 10, 1931, in Mount Vernon, Washington to William and Clara Klaus. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Bremerton, Washington where Patti grew up. In 1951, Patti married Richard F. Berg, also of Bremerton. They moved to Tacoma, Washington and then to Boise, Idaho, returning to Port Orchard in 1967. Richard preceded her in death in 1990. In 1991, Patti married Dan Bassen of Port Orchard at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Dan and Patti made their home on the Beach Drive in Port Orchard until 2003 when they moved to Stafford Suites Assisted Living. Patti worked for nearly 30 years in the banking industry, most recently at Kitsap Bank and First State Bank, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church for over 40 years and a member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1957. Patti is survived by her husband, Dan; a brother William(Carol) Klaus of Tenino, Washington; a son Richard(Becky) Berg of Port Orchard; daughters Lynne (Robert) Curtiss and De (Pat) Kane, both of Port Orchard; stepson Jim (Patti) Bassen of Port Orchard; stepdaughters Margaret (Norm) Hower of Gig Harbor, Ann (Ed) Fournier of Bellingham and Mary Kay (Mark) Seales of Seattle; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, Robert Berg; a stepson, Danny Bassen; and a brother, Gerald Klaus, preceded her in death. Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the staff and residents of Stafford Suites, Ridgemont Terrace and Kitsap County Hospice for their help, care and the compassion shown Patti and our family over the past several years. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Port Orchard on March 26, 2008 at noon, with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church building fund.
