Patricia A. Lamey

January 6, 1924 — January 3, 2015

Patricia A. Lamey (Patti) of Port Orchard passed away at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton on January 3, 2015 at the age of 90 from natural causes.

Patricia was born in Indianapolis Indiana on January 6th, 1924 to Malcolm and Margaret Whitfield and had one sister Sally. Patricia lived her youth in Evanston Illinois and graduated from Evanston high school. Patricia met the love of her life at age 11, and married John Lamey at the age of 20. They were married until the time of his passing in 2003. Patricia and John were known for their abilities to dance and won several contests during the 1940's. Following several years moving around the east coast as a military wife, Patricia moved back to Illinois and had her first 2 children, Jeff and Anne. She started west in the mid 1950's moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico and giving birth to her 3rd child Greg in 1954. The next move was to Littleton Colorado where Patricia was voted "homemaker of the year in 1956 and giving birth to her 4th child, Malcolm in 1957. The next move in 1958 brought her and her family to Seattle where she raised her 4 children, volunteered for school committees, modeled clothes part time and continued to be an amazing mother, house wife, neighbor and friend to all that she met. Following the graduation of Greg from high school, Patricia and her husband, along with their youngest son hit the road again to Florida, followed by Germany, then California all in the same year. The following years she continued to travel around several western states with her husband who had become a minister. Patricia had a lifelong ability and desire to welcome and accept anyone she crossed paths with and was always by her husband’s side. Patricia and John moved to Kitsap County in 1986 to be close to family and continue with the church thru 1996. After her husbands passing, she continued to live on her own until 2014.

Patricia was blessed to meet a close and loving friend, Patrick Lowery and his family in 2006, and spent the last 8 years of her life very close to Patrick and his family. She cherished her regular scheduled visits with Patrick, visiting several local restaurants, sitting at the boat launch in Manchester, or on the waterfront in Port Orchard, and most of all her favorite spot at Trophy Lake, where we all celebrated her 90th birthday and will have another celebration of her life with family and close friends. Everyone around town knew “Pat and Patti” and looked forward to their weekly visits.

Patricia moved to Stafford Suites senior assisted living facility in Port Orchard as her last stop on her long journey around the world.

Patricia was preceded in death by her eldest child Jeff in 1994 and her husband John in 2003. Patricia was grandmother (Nanny) to Jim, Chris, Ryan, Sara, Andrea, Alexa and great grandmother to Sean, Jayden, Conner, Logan, Liam, Ava, Nolan, Tyler, and Brenden, as well as step grandmother and step great grandmother to many others. Patricia celebrated her life with family and close friends last year on her 90th birthday and had requested that be the memorial of her life.

Patricia's remains have been laid to rest at Sunset Lane memorial cemetery next to her son Jeff and husband John.

The family would like to give thanks for all the kind words from all who knew Patricia, as well as a special thank you to the staff at Stafford Suites and Harrison Hospital. You all allowed this lovely lady to live her final days with all of the grace and dignity she deserved. A online memorial and guestbook can be accessed at www.rill.com .

The following Prayer says it all so well. (Author unknown)

Prayer for Her Passing

She was always busy, always working,
her days were long, her spirit strong,
many things always got done, by this one,
if a need was found, there was always the sound
of her bustling, efficient, energy, doing the job.

Her heart was kind, her spirit strong,
each day of her life, found her willing
to dance the dance and walk the walk,
it was a pleasure, when she had the time to talk.

Her favorite things, were the people she knew,
her family, her friends, and me and you,
often she shared a smile and a wink,
she often made you puzzle and think.

Her days were many, but not enough,
saying what she meant, with never a bluff,
acting in kindness, to all she met,
on this heart, may the sun never set.
Her wisdom lives on in those she knew,
Thank You dear woman, I will never forget you.
