Paul was born in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Helen Port. They moved to Port Orchard, Washington in 1935, and settled in South Colby. He attended South Colby elementary school, and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1951. He was on the football team, track team, and was active in several school clubs. He attended the University of Washington and graduated from the School of Pharmacy in 1956. That same year he married Beverly Matteson, his high school sweetheart. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. Paul and Beverly made Port Orchard their permanent home.
Paul worked as a pharmacist for Wallach Drug, Bremerton, Geiger Pharmacy, Port Orchard, Nelson Thrifty Drug, Bremerton, and he owned Paul’s Pharmacy in east Bremerton from 1982-2008. He retired from pharmacy in 2011. He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, in 2012. He is survived by his two children, Kimberlee (Norman) and John (Qais).
Paul was an avid traveler, sports enthusiast, reader, and jazz festival attendee. He was a member of Port Orchard United Methodist Church. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Sunday, August 2, at 2 p.m., at the Port Orchard United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Port Orchard United Methodist Church, or thechildrenofwar.org. Paul will be buried in Sunset Lane Memorial Park, Port Orchard.
