Paul Southwell died July 9, 2018 after a long illness. He was born October 25, 1933 in Tacoma, Washington to Frank and Elsie Southwell. He graduated from Clover Park High School in 1952.
After high school, he entered a drafting trainee program for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He joined the Army and served in the Alaska Communications System in Healy, Alaska. He returned to PSNS and retired in 1989 after 36 years as a Naval Architect Technician.
He met his wife Shirley, of 56 years, at a softball game at Roosevelt Field. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, two daughters, Karen (husband Steve) and Nancy. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Stratton.
He was a lifelong avid sports fan who played sports in high school, American Legion baseball and local softball.
He traveled for work and pleasure. He and Shirley became snowbirds in Arizona and attended over 150 spring training games of the Mariners. He also enjoyed gleaning fruit with other retirees for the Surprise Food Bank.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Kitsap Humane Society would be welcomed.
