Paulette Madeline Clifford, a loving wife, mother and friend, lost her battle with cancer on July 2, 1999. She was born January 27, 1931 in Creil, France to Paul & Antoinette (Douet) Lasnier. As a young woman she taught herself English from a book, so that she could work in the offices on the Army base in Chinon. There she met her future husband, Gary Clifford - they were married December 26, 1960 in France. As a military wife, she worked hard to ensure her husband could be the best soldier he could, and if they issued medals to military wives, she would have earned a room full. Paulette made the difficult decision to embrace the United States as her home, and received her American Citizenship in the bicentennial year of 1976. She loved to knit and was a ribbon winner at the Puyallup Fair. She also enjoyed camping, and walking the ocean beaches. Some of her favorite things were fresh cooked Crab, the Pillsbury Dough Boy, and Mountain Goats. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her dedication to her family. Her spirit is now in the hearts of family and friends who will dearly miss her hugs and sweet accent. Paulette will be thought of each time we see 'her mountain'.She is survived by her husband; daughters Elaine Clifford of Port Orchard and Brenda Robinson (Christopher)of Tacoma; brother Raymond Lasnier of France; grandchildren Ian & Ginger Robinson. Her dog Bandit and her cat will also miss her dearly.Funeral service Wednesday, July 7, 1999 at 11:00 AM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard with interment at Sunset Lane Cemetery following the service.
