Peggy A. Gunter, 65, of Port Orchard, WA, died December 9, 2005, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, WA. Peggy was born January 10, 1940, in Fort Thomas, KY, to Robert and Beatrice (Rogers) Smith. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Arlington Heights, TX, and then graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Peggy married Travis Gunter on December 24, 1961, in Fort Worth, TX. She worked as a music teacher in Michigan, California, and Washington. She was a member of the Manchester Community Church, Bremerton Symphony, and the Praise Symphony. Peggy enjoyed life. She was an avid gardener raising flowers. She loved bird watching and caring for wildlife. She was also known for raising large dogs. Peggy loved to arrange and sing jazz music and played the violin. She enjoyed horseback riding and being a grandmother to 4 granddaughters. Survivors include her husband Travis Gunter, of Port Orchard, WA; son Jon Gunter and wife Pattie, of Lake Forest, CA; daughter Elizabeth Montefu and husband Dan, of Riverview, FL; brother Richard Smith and wife Audrey, of Mineral Wells, FL; sisters-in-law Naomi Smith, of Vashon Island, WA, and Eddie Smith, of Elgin, TX; and four granddaughters Olivia, Cristina, Kayla, and Hannah. Peggy was preceded in death by brothers Eugene and Ralph Smith. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 5:00PM, at the Manchester Community Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, TX. Memorial donations can be made to Wells For Life.org.
