Penny Lou Olson, 69, of Port Orchard, WA died peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2017. Penny was born February 9, 1947 in Bremerton, WA. She the second of six children. Her parents were Lorna and LeRoy Thompson.
Penny grew up in Bremerton and graduated from West High School. In June, 1983 she relocated to beautiful Kodiak, AK. Penny joined the U.S. Postal Service, transferred to Anchorage, and eventually retired after twenty two years of loyal service. In 2011 she moved back to the Seattle area. Loved by many, Penny was known for her witty humor and directness which was infectious and endearing to those around her. She was a caretaker and was always concerned for the well being of others. Her sacrifices and love for her three sons was undeniable! Her hobbies included walking her dog, crocheting, watching the Mariners, Seahawks and her favorite TV show Ellen.
Penny is survived by her three sons; Dennis Thompson of Anchorage, AK, Ian Olson (Anna) of Bothell, WA, Boyd Olson (Michelle) of Palmer, AK, and step-son Jesse Olson of Bothell, WA; four grandchildren, Peyton and Logan of Palmer, AK, Marlo and Alex Joseph of Bothell, WA; two sisters Sandra Baird of Port Orchard, WA, Patricia Black of Gorst, WA, and brother Kenneth Dawson of Gig Harbor, WA; as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Proceeded in death by her sister Donna and brother Jimmy.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rills Life Tribute Center. The Rills Life Tribute Center is in charge of all arrangements. Reception following service to share stories and memories.
