Peter G.C. Dixon

May 2, 1938 — July 6, 2024

Peter DIxon was born in Stockton-On-Tees, Durham, England, in May of 1938. In April, 1967, he relocated his wife and 3 children to the United States for an opportunity at the Boeing Vertol Company, Pennsylvania, to advance his career and provide a better life for his family. As a brilliant Aerospace Engineer, he authored a Defense Technical Information Center Report dated May 1, 1980 titled "Design, Development, and Flight Demonstration of the Loads and Safety Characteristics of a Bearingless Main Rotor." He was also instrumental in working with US Army Aviation Systems Command and NASA Ames Research Center by contributing to the "Integrated Technology Rotor Methodology Assessment Workshop" in June of 1983. He eventually ended up at ATI, a corporation which focused on the quality advancement of aerospace aeronautics. He designed and built the Ultrasport 254 Ultralight Helicopter, and designed composite blades for the S61 Helicopter and the Presidential Helicopter. ATI received many awards: the Dr. Alexander Klemin Award, the Howard Hughes Award (NASA's highest award for quality and excellence), and the George M. Low Award.

Peter had an enormous love for family, friends, and co-workers and a gigantic heart. He was always trying to find ways to help anyone in need, especially his children and grandchildren. He spent his retirement enjoying RC modeling, live steam railroads (one which he built on his property so that he could "ride the rails"), and camping, fishing, trips to Scotland and England, and even solo'd earlier to receive his private pilot's small aircraft certificate.

He passed away in the comfort of his home with his family surrounding him on July 6, 2024. Though our hearts are broken, we live in the faith that someday we will be together again. God speed my lovely husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather.
