Phillip Anthony Etherton, 66 of Port Orhcard, died in Tacoma May 24, 2012. He was born September 16, 1945 in Anna, Illinois to Homer Allen & Lillian Frances (Pearson) Etherton. He graduated from Carbondale Community High School in Illinois in 1964 and attended Southern Illinois University. He married Bette Carol Pauls on April 5, 1975 in Sunnyvale, California. Phillip worked as a Senior Field Engineer for Digital Equipment Corporation for 28 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked as a Manager for Cameron Enterprises. He served in the U.S. Air Forced from 1966 to 1970 as a Sgt. in Information Technology, receiving several top marksman awards. Phillip enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and his 3 cats “Matty”, “OT” & “Little Girl”. Surviving are wife Bette; daughter Shelly Strong of Bremerton; sister Pamela (Michael) Drew; nephew Nathan (Sara) Drew; grandchildren Patrick, Amber & Brianna Strong; and 2 great-grandchildren.No services are planned at this time.
