Pieter Deurloo, 82, of Port Orchard, WA, died July 4, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, WA, of a heart attack. Pieter was born March 9, 1920, in Delft, Holland, to Pieter and Pietja (Brouwer) Deurloo. He married Elizabeth (Vander Klugt) Deurloo on January 30, 1948, in Delft. Elizabeth preceded Pieter in death in 1982.The family immigrated from Holland to Canada in 1948. Pieter owned and operated his own contracting business and sponsored many Dutch immigrants. They then immigrated to Waterford, Connecticut, in 1962 where he was an independent contractor and cabinet maker. He has resided in Washington State since 1994.Pieter enjoyed his vegetable garden and raising chickens. He was also a Seattle Mariners fan and Patriot football fan. Pieter enjoyed fishing in Connecticut and traveling internationally.Survivors include a son Pieter G. Deurloo, of Bainbridge, Pennsylvania; daughters Louise E. Welliver, of Port Orchard, WA, and Margaret J. Edmonds, of Poway, CA; brothers Jan Deurloo, of Delft, Holland, and Jacob Deurloo, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; sisters Cornelia P.J. Van Haaster, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Pietja Beest, of Rotterdam, Holland; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 2 brothers Antonie and Gerrit Deurloo.Memorials can be made to a charity of choice.
