Rachel Downing

Rachel Ellen Downing died of cancer in Bremerton, Washington January 9, 2004. She was born October 26, 1923 in Little Prairie, Alberta, Canada to Walters and Lydia (Keith) Woodcock. She married Herbert Lee Downing in Bremerton, Washington - they divorced at a later date. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington in 1941. Rachel worked as a store clerk and buyer manager - retiring in 1985. She was a member of Long Lake Sewing Club and enjoyed sewing and crochet. Rachel is survived by son - Michael of Kodiak, Alaska; daughter - Janet of Bremerton, Washington; brother - Daniel of Kennewick, Washington; sister - Jessie of Kennewick, Washington; 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held at the Village Greens Apartments Commons Area (3883 Madrona Drive S.E., Port Orchard, Washington) at 2:00 p.m. on January 14, 2004.
