Ralph Edward Wasmer, 64 of Port Orchard, Washington died at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington on April 22, 2001. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 2, 1936 to Edward & Dora (Alcorn) Wasmer. He attended Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. Ralph married Hildegard Junker on November 14, 1964 in Alameda, California.Mr. Wasmer was a Photo Journalist for 48 years, retiring in January 2001. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1973 attaining the rank of Chief Photographer's Mate. Ralph earned the Vietnam Service and Navy Commendation medals. He enjoyed model railroading and was a World War II historian.Surviving are his wife Hildegard; mother Dora Breidenbach of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania; daughters Ursula Wasmer of Tacoma, Washington and Erika Wasmer of Bainbridge Island, Washington; brother Philip Breidenbach of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania; and granddaughter Heather Wasmer of Tacoma. He was preceded in death by son Rolf Wasmer.A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard on Thursday, April 26, 2001 at 10:30am followed by interment at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Gig Harbor.
