Nancy and Richard mourn the loss of their son, dedicated soldier, SMSGT Ray K G Backen.
Born March 4, 1964, in Whittier, CA. Passed peacefully in his sleep from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), May 18, 2015.
Completed high school in Fremont, CA.
Very honorably served in the United States Air Force for over 27 years where his duties took him all over the world, including Italy, Spain, Germany, England, France, Bosnia and several others.
Worked at the Pentagon for the Defense Department (DOD) Judge Advocate General's Office in Washington D.C. Ray's parents would like to thank his co-workers and friends who donated more than 400 hours of leave and support to him.
Cared for by his loving parents in Port Orchard, WA., where he passed away.
Preceded in death by his brother Randy.
