Ray D. Clarno, 86 of Port Orchard, died Jan. 16, 2014 of cancer at his residence. Ray was born Mar. 15, 1927 in Greer, Idaho to Benjamin and Olive (Patterson) Clarno.
Ray was a member of the U.S. Arm y from July 9, 1946 to June 9, 1949. He served during WWII in Germany and Italy receiving the victory and occupation medals. Ray married to former Betty Tuttle Sept. 17, 1949 in Leavenworth, WA. He was employed as a surveyor at the Coulee Dam Project from 1949 to 1952. He then moved his family to Port Orchard where he worked at P.S.N.S., retiring after 30 years as a shipfitter General Forman.
Ray was a member of the Kitsap County 4-H from 1966 to 1969. His interest included golf, RVing, razor clam digging, watching grandkids play sports.
He is preceded in death by a sister Mary Logue, nephew Billie Clarno, great granddaughter Faith Gurganious, and brother Newell Clarno.
Ray is survived by his wife Betty of the family home in Port Orchard, daughters Sharon (Ed) Gadberry of Port Orchard, Nancy (Mike) Rummel of Port Orchard, brother Ronnie (Karen) of California, grandchildren, Deanna Adams, Brian (Elisha) Gadberry, Marci Gadberry, Michelle (Mike) Sitler, Stacy (Tony) Gurganious and Jeff Rummell, great grandchildren, Kyle Adams, Daisha Sitler, Ara Beary, McKenna Gadberry, Colby Sitler, Shaydan Gadberry, Noah Gurganious, Brody Gadberry and Ellie Garganious.
Public viewing will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, WA.
Graveside service will be held at a later date at Mt. View Cemetery in Leavenworth, WA.
