Raymond D. Sampson, age 69, a resident of Port Orchard, died August 29, 2007 at Tacoma General Hospital. He was born on November 16, 1937 in Yakima, Washington to Roland and Helen (Smith) Sampson. Raymond graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1956 and married Peggy Young on January 13, 1963 in Port Orchard. He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Non-Destructive Testing until 1969. He also worked as parts man and outside salesman for Commercial Brake and Williams Oil Filter Service; he was manager of RE Auto Electric in Bremerton and parts manager for local public transportation. He was a member of the Saints Car Club of Port Orchard and enjoyed working on older cars of which he owned a 1967 Ford Galaxy and a 1969 Ford Torino. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy; sons Shane and Dino Sampson; brothers Jay Sampson of Port Orchard and Seth Sampson of Seattle; Sisters Carol (Tom) Hiett of Alabama, Gail (Fred) Coleman of Port Orchard and Ruth (Dulane) Roppe of Ohio; 2 grandchildren Hunter and Austin of Port Orchard. A Celebration of his life is scheduled for September 18, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
